Private Foundations
In June of 1995, the Republic of Panama enacted Law No.25 which established and regulated Private Interest Foundations. In response to this new, efficient and flexible instrument, the Morgan & Morgan Group set up MMG Trust, S.A., a specialized company for structuring and administering Private Interest Foundations. This team is led by the partners in the firm who played an important role in drafting and enacting the Law, thus guaranteeing a full and detailed knowledge of this instrument.
Private Interest Foundations in Panama are inspired by the Family Foundation in the Principality of Liechtenstein. With this resource, Panama is the first country on the American continent to adopt such legislation, ensuring its leadership as a provider of international and trust services for its clients’ needs.
Trusts
Trusts as a legal instrument were first introduced into the Republic of Panama in 1925. Since then, the law governing their establishment and operation has undergone a number of changes and improvements culminating in our current Law No.1 of 5 January 1984, which regulates trust business.
Due to the long-standing existence of trusts and its familiarity with them, MMG Trust has developed the necessary knowledge to efficiently advise its clients on the best way to capitalize on the advantages and opportunities provided by Panamanian trust laws.
In this way, its team of professionals is qualified to provide advice on, and to structure and administer share trusts, inheritance trusts, investment, management and guarantee trusts, and trusts for the protection of minors or the disabled.
MMG Trust also has licensed trust companies in Ecuador and Zurich, as well as in the British Virgin Islands, Belize, and New Zealand, which provide it with the ability to establish and manage “trusts” in those countries which are subject to common law. This supplements its capacity to provide a wide range of international trust and corporate services, both to local as well as foreign clients.

Document Custody
MMG Trust offers document custody services to its clientele. This service is provided by a deposit agreement whereby our office undertakes the safeguarding and custody of documents up to the moment of formal return by the client. This service is quite useful for clients who wish to keep important legal documents such as, among others, stock certificates, title deeds, immovable property certificates of ownership, in a safe place.
Documents are deposited in our safety vault built within the installations on the 8th Floor of the MMG Tower in Panama City.
